Expanded player

Open the expanded player by selecting the current track in the Now Playing bar or using the upward chevron. The expanded view keeps listening controls, track context, and a large waveform or visualizer in one focused space. Select the downward chevron to return to the rest of Motif without stopping playback.

Switch between waveform and visualizer

Use the control in the upper-left corner of the expanded player to switch modes:
  • Waveform gives you a visual map of the audio and a direct way to move through it.
  • Visualizer turns the current audio into an animated visual scene.
The selected mode changes the central listening surface. Playback controls and track information remain available below it. When you expand a track from Tracked, Motif opens the visualizer by default. You can switch back to the waveform at any time.

Waveform

The waveform represents the duration and changing energy of the current audio. Use it to:
  • understand the overall shape of the production;
  • jump to a particular section;
  • revisit a transition, drop, verse, or ending;
  • compare the same point across related versions.
Select or drag across the waveform to move playback. The regular seek bar remains available below it for precise progress control.

Visualizer

The visualizer responds to the music currently playing. Click it for another scene, press ↑ or ↓ to step through presets, or use fullscreen and picture-in-picture. See Visualizer for scene changes, the picture-in-picture window, React to desktop, and compatibility mode.

Track information

The information row can show details available for the current track:
  • BPM;
  • musical key and detune information;
  • audio format;
  • type: beat, loop, or song;
  • artist and producer credits for songs;
  • for and by information for producer material.
Only information known to Motif is shown. Missing fields are omitted rather than filled with guesses. Edit the underlying Library metadata when a value is absent or incorrect. See Track details and actions.

Playback controls

The expanded player uses the same current order and transport state as the Now Playing bar:
  • shuffle;
  • previous;
  • play or pause;
  • next;
  • repeat off, repeat all, or repeat one;
  • seek position.
Collapsing the player does not restart the track or create a separate listening session.

Compare versions in the same listening space

When the current piece contains multiple exports, version controls remain in the Now Playing experience. Switch versions, hide the label for a blind comparison, or choose a random version, then use the waveform to revisit the same musical section. See Versions for how version groups are formed and how to compare them deliberately.
