Ingredients and Motif Favorites

Ingredients shows what a beat was made with: the samples, MIDI patterns, and plugin presets in its linked FL Studio project. Star any of them to keep a copy in Motif Favorites, a pack that appears in FL Studio’s browser.

Open Ingredients

  1. Right-click a local track in the Library.
  2. Choose Ingredients.
If the track is not linked to an FL Studio project yet, the panel says This beat isn’t linked to an FL Studio project yet. Link its .flp to see the samples, MIDI and presets it was made with. Select Link FLP… and choose the project file. See FL Studio projects for how linking works. While Motif reads a linked project, the panel shows Reading the project…. If it cannot read the file, it shows Could not read this project.

Browse by type

The panel has three tabs: Use the play button beside a sound to preview it, and select it again to stop.

Use an ingredient in FL Studio

  • Drag a sound or a pattern into FL Studio.
  • Drag a preset onto a channel.
The folder button at the bottom of the panel (Show in folder) opens the folder of the current tab’s first file in Windows Explorer.

Motif Favorites

Select the star next to a sound, pattern, or preset to add it to Motif Favorites. Select it again to remove it (Removed from Motif Favorites.). Starring copies the file into Documents\Motif\Favorites. Sounds are sorted into folders by drum or instrument type, for example Kicks, Snares, Claps, and 808s. MIDI and presets get their own folders. Un-starring removes only Motif’s copy. Your original project files are not touched.

See Favorites in FL Studio

The first time you star something, Motif adds the Favorites folder to FL Studio’s Packs as Motif Favorites. Windows may ask for permission once. After that, starred items are in FL Studio › Packs › Motif Favorites. The note at the bottom of the panel tells you where your starred items are:
