# Connections

> Connect only the external services required for Tracked, private sending, and public publishing.

# Connections

Connections let specific Motif workflows use services you already have. Every connection is optional.

Open **Settings → Connections** to connect, inspect, or disconnect a service.

## Available services

| Service | Main Motif use |
| - | - |
| **Gmail** | Email packs from Opportunities and Send Outs |
| **YouTube** | Beat videos and YouTube Shorts from Content; choosing subscriptions for Tracked |
| **BeatStars** | Optional store listings paired with eligible beat publishing |
| **Telegram** | Tracked chats, channels, and topics; Opportunity and Send Out delivery |
| **Discord** | Tracked channels and Send Out destinations |
| **Google Drive** | Selected Tracked folders |
| **Dropbox** | Selected Tracked folders or shared folder links |

## Connect a service

Select **Connect** on the relevant row. Most services continue in your system browser and return to Motif after approval.

Telegram uses a different flow:

1. Select **Connect** beside Telegram.
2. On your phone, open Telegram.
3. Go to **Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device**.
4. Scan the QR code shown by Motif.
5. Complete Telegram's additional password step if your account requires it.

## Connected identity

A connected row shows a masked Email address or username. Use the reveal control when you need to confirm which account is active, then hide it again before screen sharing.

The Google account used to sign into Motif is not automatically the same thing as connected Gmail, YouTube, or Google Drive access. Each product connection is granted separately.

## Connection versus selected source

Connecting a service grants Motif access for supported actions, but does not select all its content.

Examples:

* connecting Discord does not track every channel;
* connecting Telegram does not follow every chat;
* connecting Google Drive or Dropbox does not mirror every folder;
* connecting Gmail does not send a message;
* connecting YouTube or BeatStars does not publish anything.

You select a specific source, destination, or publishing action afterward.

## Disconnect a service

Select the connected-state control. Motif changes it to a red **Disconnect** confirmation for a short period; select again to confirm.

Disconnecting prevents new activity that requires that service. Existing Tracked cards can remain visible but cannot refresh or play until the service is reconnected. Existing posts, messages, remote files, and listings remain in their external services.

## Reconnect when access changes

Reconnect when:

* a source card is greyed out;
* Motif says the service cannot refresh or play;
* the external account revoked access;
* Discord asks you to apply updated channel permissions;
* BeatStars requires an additional security step.

Reconnect first, then return to the relevant Tracked or Studio workflow.
